Winter Boots: Step Out In Style This Season

As winters sweep in, you have your wardrobe all set out with chunky knits, cosy pullovers, stylish overcoats and chic blazers; all to be worn over trendy knit tights or warm denims. You’ve thought of great colour themes, have picked the right cuts and silhouettes that flatter your figure, and are very happy with your winter wardrobe. But, are you forgetting something?

Yes, we are talking about Winter Boots…..which are a Must-Have for any chic fashionista. Not only do boots keep your feet warm and cosy when the temperatures outdoors get freezing cold, they also add a certain edge to your carefully put together winter ensemble….letting you create a more put-together look effortlessly.

However, picking a stylish pair of boots isn’t all that easy. There is a lot that goes in to choosing a pair that will prove to be a value for money buy, as the length, style and cut of each kind of boots decides what kind of outfits they are best paired with. Remember, a great outfit that isn’t accessorised with just as much thought will end up looking frumpy…. for example a beautiful tweed overcoat worn over denims with ballet flats where your bright pink winter socks show from the top!

So, let’s take a look at all the options available to you in winter boots, and how to choose a pair that best suits your dressing style.

Calf length Boots –

calf length

The most versatile design out there, calf length boots are perfect for everyday use as they end somewhere mid-calf. They look great when worn with slim fitted denims tucked in, and also look smart when paired with a skirt (mini or midi). In fact, these boots also come in the widest range of designs, heel heights and colours, because you can create a different look with two different designs with ease!

The best way to wear calf length boots is with jeans, a smart pullover or jacket, and these even look great when paired with statement making overcoats. You can choose a heel height you are most comfortable with, but its best to pick a neutral colour that can be easily paired with multiple outfits.

Ankle length Boots –

If you prefer wide legged pants or leggings, then Ankle length boots are the perfect choice. Equally versatile, these cover up your socks well and end slightly above the ankle. These come in varying heel heights and styles. From Suede to Croc leather to the popular Uggs, these are minimalistic, comfy and hence chic.

 ankle length boots

The best way to wear your ankle length boots is with wide legged pants or with tights and tunics. Avoid wearing these with slim fitted jeans, as it’s often tough to completely tuck away the bottom hem inside the boot with a smooth finish. However, they do look great with cropped pants. Kitten heels are usually most comfortable and easy to wear both for work and night outs with just as much ease.

Knee length Boots –

knee length

The uber sexy, knee length boots can look both casually smart and punky stylish. However, not everyone can pull these off, and especially not with everyday work wear outfits. These cover the entire calf and end just below (or sometimes even just above) the knee. Available in a variety of materials including leather and suede, these are great to create another insulating layer between you and the chilly wind outdoors!

 knee length boots

Knee length boots are best worn with playful dresses or skirts paired with stockings and can also easily be worn over skinny jeans and a short jacket for a casual day look. If you have a more casual dressing style, look for flat heeled boots or those that come with a wedge heel.

However, avoid pairing knee high boots with an overcoat, as the bottom hem of the coat and the loose wide top of the boots (loosely designed so that you can slip on the pair with greater ease) can come in a single line and create a clashing look. Ideally, there should be a minimum of 6 inch gap between the top of the boots and the bottom of your coat.

Booties –

For those who lean towards the formal, structured dressing style, booties are the best choice. While these are also ankle length shoes, their design is often more formal and perfect to be coupled with work-wear outfits. Whether it is a business suit with a smart jacket and a pair of dressy pants, a sheath dress worn with stockings underneath, or a pencil skirt worn with a wrap sweater, these shoes compliment your complete office wear wardrobe.

 booties for work

Booties are versatile and can easily be worn with any outfit to work. They look equally good with maxi skirts and casual dresses; just as long as you ensure that you pair them with full stockings and not just short ankle length socks that will show through the top. For an extra chic look, find a pair with chunky heels that balances out your bulky winter wear to perfection.

With so many options and designs available in Winter Boots, what’s your excuse to continue wearing open shoes with your socks showing through? It’s time to invest in a pair that is the perfect match for your fashion personality….so that you stay warm, comfortable, and most importantly, stylish this chilly Winter!

Thanks! This is a paid theme but I have customized it myself. WordPress allows you to choose a theme and play with it to get your blog look perfect…all I paid for was a domain name that didnt include ‘wordpress’.
