Recently, I got a gift card for H&M, and I decided to make full use of it. In my onion, H&M offers quality basics at affordable prices. I am particularly fond of their basic tees, tube skirts and slip-on sneakers. They are all well made, wash well, fit well and make great seasonal updates.
What’s more, they also offer the latest trends at affordable prices. So if you are planning to dip your feet into the latest trends but don’t want a pricey tag, try H&M. From cold-shoulder tops to boho-lite blouses and bardot (off-the-shoulder) basic tees, they offer plenty of variety to suit to women of all shapes and sizes.
I was highly impressed with the H&M Plus Size collection. Very good range, including everything from work-appropriate pants, blouses, casual printed tees, casual basics, jeans and more. If you UK Size 18 upwards, you will find plenty of summer basics at H&M.
Here is a look at 5 of my recent purchases from the H&M Summer Collection 2016. All of these have been huge successes, and easily updated my summer wardrobe.
I love a fluid, drapey white tee for summers and this one is exactly what you want to wear this summer with denim cut-offs. Size down in this. I am generally a UK Size 14 in tops, or a size L-XL in other brands, but for this top I sized down to a Medium for a drapey oversized fit that doesn’t droop on the shoulder.
Slip-on Trainers, Rs. 799
Slip-on plimsolls in cotton twill with elastic gores in the sides, a loop at the back, linings and insoles in cotton canvas and rubber soles. Super comfy and true-to-size. Available in many colors and prints, and are true-to-size. Don’t size down….they do not stretch-out with regular use, unlike many other cheaply priced plimsolls.
Black Jersey top With Rounded Hem, Rs. 799
Another basic that looks equally good paired with skinnies, denim shorts or short tube skirts. The fit is drapey and generous and the fabric is soft and lightweight. Perfect for this brutally hot summer! Easy to dress up with a scarf, distressed skinnies, oversized sunnies and block heel sandals for an effortlessly chic weekend look. The rounded hemline is very flattering on women of all shapes. I sized down in this one too and bought a Medium, but sizes do go up to XL.
Fluid Joggers, Rs. 799
Joggers in soft, gently draping jersey with an elasticated drawstring waist, side pockets and ribbed hems. Perfect as loungewear and also available in olive green and navy blue. I liked them SO MUCH, I got all 3 colors! These are ideal fpor days when you must cover your legs for modesty reasons but simply can’t bear the thought of wearing stiff denim. Also great for travel!
Bell-shaped Skirt, Rs. 799
Another great basic! Short, bell-shaped skirt in stretch jersey with wide elastication at the waist. Its unlined, so doesn’t feel too heavy. Pretty well cut and ideal to wear this summer with a cropped tee and slip-on sneakers. The one I bought is a black & white print, but I can’t seem to find that piece at their online store. I had to size down in this. I am usually a size UK 12 or a waist 32” for bottoms, but had to size down to a Medium for this skirt.
Sadly, online shopping is not currently offered in India. But if you live in the Delhi NCR region, visit your local H&M store and stock up on basics to brave this brutally hot summer in style!
